The Utility Division’s mission is to
enhance the quality of life for the citizens of Covington, and supply
safe, reliable utilities at the lowest cost. It consists of three
departments, which includes gas, water, and sewer. Each of these
departments have primary functions, which enable the division to carry
out its mission. The utility division consists of thirteen employees,
which includes one manager, one administrative employee, five gas
department employees, three water department employees, and three sewer
department employees. In order to provide quality service to our
customers, all employees are cross-trained within each department. The
division is proud to have four employees certified through the State of
Tennessee as Grade I Distribution System Operators and three that are
certificated as Grade I Wastewater Collection System Operators, as well
as one employee with Grade II Distribution and Grade II Collections
System Certifications.
The Utility Division is located at
300 South College Street. Qualified personnel are available 7 days a
week, 24 hours a day to respond to emergency situations and after hour
calls, Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at (901)476-9531,
after normal working hours, weekends and holidays at (901) 476-7163.
